Our events are open to all ages and abilities. No prior experience necessary! We would love your help collecting and sharing stories at community events throught the Twin Cities. We have opportunities for Individuals and families; youth and adult groups; environmental and outdoor clubs; community and service organizations; faith-based groups, and college, high school, and middle school students to get involved in Art-Science and Citizen Science.
Event Set Up
From Northern Sparks to the Minnesota State Fair, Backyard Phenology works to set up exhibitions and installations that are visually engaging and invite people to share their stories. We would love to have your help developing and installing Climate Chaser event exhibits.
Some BYP events require people to the table. These people interact with event-goers and explain, inform, and answer questions about what BYP is and why phenology is important for everyone to participate in observing. To learn more about phenology and the importance of observing the environment around you visit Nature's Notebook.
Story telling is a way for people to open up, engage with new perspectives, develop sharper analogies for problem-solving. If you are interested in helping to gather stories at one of our events, we would love to have you on board.
One of the constraints that limit the ability of people to see the patterns and cycles of the natural world are the expert languages that is used to describe these phenomena. We are always looking for people who are enthusiastic about sharing stories of ecology, phenology, and climate in an accessible and exciting way. Have an interest in environmental education? We would love to have you on board!
