Native American Medicine Gardens - Season Opening
Hosted By the UMN Native American Medicine Garden
We hope your journey since the last event has been a good one. We would like to welcome you back to the Native American Medicine Gardens(NAMG), as we host Backyard Phenology(BYP) this year.
We hope you will join us on Thursday, February 8th, from 6:15-8:00 pm for this years' first of many BYP events.
Winter season is a time for rest and storytelling. In the first two BYP events on February 8th & 15th, we will be telling the origin stories of BYP and the NAMG, giving a more detailed explanation of the Talking Circles, presenting the data that has been collected through BYP citizen scientist and stories told from those who observed in the NAMG this past year. We will also discuss different ways to observe the environment, not only from an Indigenous perspective; from other cultural ways, as well.
Rebecca Montgomery and Chris Baeumler will talk about how to observe in multiple modes and introduce ideas of what to observe this year. Cante Suta will talk about who will be presenting at the BYP events at the Native American Medicine Gardens throughout 2018.
We will be meeting in Room 140b in the Plant Growth Facilities located off of Gortner Avenue, on the St. Paul Campus, University of Minnesota.
